ISO Experiment - Day 264

I've been following Peter West Carey's 31+ Days To Better Photography. This was the experiment for day 7.

f8, 2.5 seconds, ISO 400

f8, 2.5 seconds, ISO 800

f8, 2.5 seconds, ISO 3200

In retrospect I probably should have darkened the room a bit more. Anyway, I think the ISO 800 setting gave the best result for this experiment. Onward and upward.

And Then There Were Two - Day 256

Four of Holly's six puppies have now found families to raise them until they begin their formal service dog training. Grace and Levi still enjoy each other's company.

We enjoy checking in on them every day.

Baby Hummingbird? Day 253 & 254

While on an evening walk we walked by a bush full of what looked like baby hummingbirds. We couldn't get very close and I didn't have a telephoto lense so this was the best I could do.

We went back the next evening and found the "baby hummingbirds" in a different bush. We still couldn't get very close so we had to rely on the telephoto lense. They look more like some sort of insect. An awfully big insect, that flies and hovers just like a hummingbird!

Here is Husband's attempt.

We are obsessed. What the heck are they?

Dust Storm! Day 250

We had a large dust storm come through. It was reported to be 30 miles wide and 2500 feet tall. For comparison the giant storm of July 2011 was 50 miles wide and 5000 feet tall by the time it hit Phoenix (that was down from 8000-10,000 feet in the desert south of the valley.

It reminded me of a tidal wave.
