Quick Tour of Boulder & a Challenge - Day 70

Join me for a quick tour of the University of Colorado campus in Boulder. At the end I have a fun challenge for you.

The CU campus is beautiful with it's flagstone buildings and the ever present flatirons.

Who are these crazy people who jumped in front of the camera?

Here are a couple of fun pictures. Mom attended CU one summer to finish some classes for her degree. This is the old women's PE building where she spent most of her time. We spent some time looking for it as the campus has changed just a tad bit since the 1950s.

Ralphie the mascot lives at a secret location so we had to settle for this statue.

Boulder Baked has the best...well they everything they have is the best!

And now for the challenge. Found at Boulder Baked. Can you guess what this is?

Sunset in Denver - Day 69

I caught this plane landing at sunset while waiting to pick up some family members at the airport. I think the tallest peak in the background is Longs Peak.

Guest photographer, Oldest Daughter, is intrigued with what she calls the "Devil Horse" at the airport entrance. The story is it fell on and killed it's "sculptor." Photo taken while driving at about 40mph.

Boulder, Colorado - Day 68

On a recent trip to Boulder, I stopped at the scenic overlook off the highway going into Boulder. This was my first glimpse of the land of my ancestors several years ago and I fell in love with it. Below you can see NCAR (National Center for Atmospheric Research) nestled into the foot of the flatirons.

In the picture below, off to the right, the reddish buildings are the University of Colorado campus.

Now for some fun. As I pulled in I noticed much activity in the fields adjacent to the overlook. The prairie dogs were out in force and quickly notified each other to run for cover as I pulled in. I had so much fun snapping pictures after waiting for them to come back out and resume their activities that I almost forgot to take the above pictures!

As you can see, they have not gone hungry this winter.

Nat Geo? Nope. Peter Frampton - Day 67

We thought we were going to a National Geographic presentation. Wrong night. It was a Peter Frampton concert. Now Peter Frampton was the first concert I ever went to so we thought we'd get tickets. You know, make lemonade out of lemons. They had one ticket left! ARGH!

No lemonade. Just frustration. March 7th.

The Birds are Back - Day 65

The birds are out every morning now "visiting" with each other. I see one of these sitting in almost the same spot on the fence each morning. March 5th.

Family Bible - Day 66

For the rest of the story you will have to hop on over to The Turning of Generations.

Brain Loves Color - Day 64

The Brain Loves Color. That's what one of the kids' teachers used to say. She took it to heart. Seems wherever I turn, there are colored pens, pencils, crayons...even after all these years. March 4th.

Tiny flowers - Day 63

Not sure what these teeny, tiny purple flowers are called but they sure are cute. March 3rd.

Sunset over Phoenix - Day 62

Enjoying a sunset over Phoenix and watching the planes approach for landing at Sky Harbor Airport on March 2nd.

Strawberry Dessert - Day 61

They looked scrumptious in the store. No sugar added. Mmmmm...

Rolltop Desk - Day 60

Husband's grandfather owned this desk that is one of our favorite heirlooms. We're working to see how much of it's history we can uncover.

Happy St. Patrick's Day - Day 77

May you find your Pot-O-Gold.

This little feller is another of Mom's ceramic creations. One of the few items she didn't put a date on.

PS I'm a little behind on posting pictures so I will be playing catch up in the coming days.

Sunset Into the Dust and The Morning After - Days 58 & 59

We had a dust storm blow the afternoon of February 27th which made for an interesting sunset.

The air had completely cleared by morning. February 28th
